5 Myths About Tarot…and Some Truths
I can’t tell you how many times people have asked me: what the heck IS tarot? Is it evil? How does it work? Well, I’m still not entirely sure how it works, but I can explode some well-placed myths.
But first, let me answer the question, “what is a tarot deck?” Unlike regular playing cards, a tarot deck has five suits. The fifth suit is known as the major arcana, and the other four minor arcana. The minor arcana roughly correspond to the suits you’d see in a regular deck of cards – clubs are staffs, diamonds are pentacles, spades are swords, and hearts are cups. The fifth suit, however, contains the cards you see in the movies and on TV – the Lovers, Death, the Devil, etc.
